The campaigns for the candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the Tuesday by-election are coming to an end in the Assin North Constituency.

The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, advised Assin North residents not to be swayed by the NDC's and its candidate's strategies.

In response to Mr. Gyakye Quayson's remarks that he would be supported even while imprisoned, he spoke. Assin North's residents shouldn't be under the leadership of a prisoner, according to Nana Addo Dankwa.

"He claims that even while incarcerated, he will receive votes. Assin North cannot vote for a prisoner to represent them in the legislature when there is a candidate (the NPP candidate) who is qualified for the position. We don't need a prisoner to govern the Assin North population. After the election, we need someone who can reconnect with the populace, he said.

Former leader John Dramani Mahama quickly responded, saying it was improper for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to refer to the NDC candidate as a prisoner. He claims that the NDC candidate has not yet been found guilty and that the case is still pending in court.

If the president says that, he is mistaken. He is harming the judicial case. He is not incarcerated, has not been found guilty or been found guilty by a jury, and even legal scholars have stated that the Supreme Court made a mistake in its decision. As a result, he is not a prisoner, and if the president claimed as such, it's sad, he continued.,” he added.
